Urban Ventures Recognized as a 2014 Health Links Healthy Business Certified Partner

Urban Ventures is excited to announce that we achieved Healthy Business Certification by Health Links Colorado. The Health Links Healthy Business Certification recognizes small businesses for meeting or exceeding work health and safety programs.
In recent years, we have directed our focus as a real estate developer to building healthy communities – places that support and promote healthy eating, active living, and social cohesion. When we learned about the Health Links Program, we realized we needed to practice what we preach in our own office. It was time to walk the talk!
We started our worksite wellness journey with the Health Links Kick-Start Program, which awards seed funding and provides free expert advising to qualified business for successful building worksite wellness and safety programs. We express our gratitude to the Health Links advising team for helping us develop tailored worksite wellness goals and providing us with the best tools to achieve them.
With our initial funding, we supplied each employee with a FitBit, an activity tracker that tracks your steps, distance, calories burned, stairs climbed and sleep patterns. We were off and running and challenging each other to hit the default goal of 10,000 steps a day. The FitBit is now a staple in our daily routine and is friendly reminder to ditch our sedentary habits and get moving!
Building off the positive momentum from our FitBits, over the last year we have held health challenges, established workplace health policies, and created an emergency evacuation and action plan for our business. By championing these initiatives, in October Urban Ventures was recognized as a Healthy Business Certified Partners by Health Links Colorado.
We will continue to prioritize worksite health, wellness and safety and do our part in making Colorado the healthiest state in the nation.
